Letter: Facts vs. lying
November 05, 2011, 01:39 AM Letter

Editor

Response to the guest perspective, "Fact vs.fiction” by Kim Griffin, RN, the chair of the Sequoia Healthcare District Board of Directors in the Oct. 29 edition of the Daily Journal.

How about Fact vs. lying?

"Clearly, Mr. Hickey would like to see the district dissolved and he intentionally fails to mention that in this case taxes continue to be collected and go toward the general tax fund where our district residents derive no direct benefit.”

Atherton Almanac article 10/26/10 Sequoia Healthcare Board could reduce tax. "The state code gives a local district board the right ‘on its face’ to decline some or all of its property tax revenues, which would then lower the actual tax burden on property owners, Brenda Carlson, a chief deputy with the office of the San Mateo County Counsel, told the Almanac.”

That is the lie, several newspapers have have continued to pass that lie on to the voters, the Almanac corrected their misstatements others did not.
