San Jose airport officials are urging the city lawmakers to approve a deal that would allow Google to build an aviation hub so the company can land and service its corporate jets at Mineta San Jose International Airport.

Details of the proposal were unveiled Thursday in a memo to the San Jose City Council.

Google currently parks its aircraft at Moffett Federal Airfield, a former Navy site operated by NASA.

San Jose International Aviation Director Bill Sherry said that the $82 million project would be a financial boon for the local economy.

It calls for building an executive terminal, hangars and ramp space for big business jets used by Google and other corporate clients.

The memo says the airport would receive $2.6 million a year in rent.
