Wake up San Mateo County
March 24, 2011, 03:40 AM Letter

Editor,

Another sentencing sends a poor message to children. Forty-nine-year-old Jeff Gracia of Pacifica was sentenced to probation and a year in jail for several felony offenses. He was convicted of having oral sex with a 14-year-old boy and possessing child pornography.

How does this happen? San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Craig Parsons, that’s how. The victim urged the judge to impose the maximum sentence, which was seven years and eight months in state prison. But the victim’s father and oldest brother both testified as character witnesses on behalf of Gracia. This victim has been victimized by everyone involved; Garcia, his family and our judge.

What do you think of the Warriors' proposal to move to Mission Bay?

Smart, a better location
Still like the waterfront arena concept
Wish they would stay in Oakland
Anywhere in San Francisco is good
How about the Burlingame waterfront?
