State closes Millbrae bar
May 08, 2009, 12:00 AM Daily Journal Staff Report

The Star Light Lounge, at 1741 El Camino Real in Millbrae, had its liquor license suspended for 20 days by the state Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

ABC investigators found the bar was in possession of contaminated bottles, possessed refilled bottles of alcohol, purchased alcohol from someone other than a licensed wholesaler and violated labor codes, according to the ABC.

Investigators from the state Labor Commissioner’s Office also found the business had no workers’ compensation insurance and issued a stop-work order. The business was also found to be violating labor code by not providing a payroll deduction statement and not paying minimum wage. The business was fined $14,450, according to the ABC.
